These are just a few of the live action explainer shorts I did at BimBam.
Jason Mesches makes this piece absolutely come alive and it was an absolute pleasure working with him. I also got the chance to work with Elijah Aaron, an absolutely spectacular musician that leaves me in awe with every piece he creates.
I took two risks with this piece. One was using mostly found footage, as opposed to creating completely original footage. The other was having some fun doing the motion graphics myself. I've since come a long, long way in terms of my motion graphics skills, but I'm still proud of how this turned out, and glad I took a risk by showcasing all of the amazing recordings rather than animating it with less satisfying approximations of those celebrations.
Sarah, my long time boss, does a great job narrating this piece.
Before this video, most of my live action shoots involved talking heads and a little bit of B Roll here and there for good measure. This was the first piece that was driven by live action from beginning to end. While working on non-animated piece now feels old hat, it was a fun foray doing it this way for the first time. Also, It was a really fun and delicious shoot.
